List Descriptions
This page describes the facilities within the Diplomacy 2000 Automated system for GMs to create and manipulate custom game lists.
- In general GMs may create lists as they see fit, all requests will pass to the Administrator who will give it the once over to make sure it's OK and he'll release it to the system.
- There are no particular guidelines for games which may be run. Provided they are acceptable on a site which has a lot of young visitors and fit the general ethos of the site they're probably OK. If you're a GM you know the score!
- The details of the lists that you can create are as follows (notes for filling in the form are on the form).
- You can create a normal list. this works just like the 'standard' games (the top 8 on the lists), anyone can enter and any GM can run them. Once created only administrators can modify normal lists.
- You can create a controlled list. This is the same as a normal list but you control it. Only you can apply to GM the list and no-one else can modify it (except administrators). You can (or will be able to) limit the players that can enter either by inclusion or exclusion.
- You can create an automatic list. This is a specialised list (like Subterrania) and is intended (but not limited) to games run by automated systems. You MUST have permission from the programmer to create an automated list, this is not to prevent or limit you but to make sure you are fully aware of the way these lists work. Basically they will automatically create a game when enough players have entered without requiring a GM and send a very limited and specific start notice.
- Any list you create can have a number of attributes.
- All lists can be Anonymous (like Gunboat). No details of players will be shown except on the startup notice.
- All lists can be Regular. This limits entry to players who have been confirmed as regulars by a GM. This does decrease the dropouts but also decreases the available player pool.
- Controlled lists can be set to AutoDelete. This means the list will be deleted as soon as the game starts. This would normally be used for test games or games which will run as a one off.
- Controlled lists may be set as AutoDeactivate. This means the list will be deactivated as soon as a game has started to prevent players being left on the list for a long period. It is reactivated by the GM requesting a new game. This facility would be used for games which run irregularly.
- Any list can be deactivated by administrators, players may not request inactive games, open games may only be reactivated by an administrator.
- Controlled and Automated lists may have controlled entry either by inclusion or exclusion. (not yet implemented)
