My son & I have five tropical freshwater fish tanks & therefore I have called the game 'Flame Tetra' as this is a common name for a fish. Flame Tetra, Hyphessobrycon flammeus as their scientific name, is in the Characin's family. They are small community fish, which their colour being shown in good condition & also in a large group. In wild, they're found in the Rio de Janeiro region & swim in slowing moving water. Future maps will have a picture of them.
Within three days you must submit this seasons orders. The reason being that if I do not receive orders from one or more players, the game will be delayed until they have been replaced. During this & any other season you can inform me that they are your 'provisional' orders (together with possible retreats, possible builds/disbands & any press). Provisional orders mean that I will have to wait until the deadline or you submit orders without 'provisionals' shown. Receiving non-provisional orders makes the game run fast & is very enjoyable.
Regardless of the Gunboat House Rules, shown below, I will not show any 'press' from any country.
Sadly during games, people often NMR. I would ask that you consider how long games last and if you feel you cannot continue playing for that period of time, I would ask that you to notify me. As an example, I would think the game will last for ten months.
The deadline is 7pm (GMT), 13th January 2003.
Regarding me, I live in Chelmsford, Essex, England. Even though I live in England I am a Scot. I am 39 years old and have been happily divorced for many years. I have a 12-year-old son, called Graeme, who lives with his mum but often sees me at weekends. Outside Diplomacy & aquariums, I enjoy football & go to Jive dances.
Regular Diplomacy rules and Diplomacy 2000 houserules apply except for the following: 1. All players' identities will be kept secret until the end of the game. 2. There is to be no diplomacy between players. If you accidentally find out who a fellow player is then you must not talk to him about the game. If you do you will be ejected. 3. Avoid obvious deliberate misorders. For example in Spring 1901 if Italy orders A(Ven) s RUSSIAN A(Gal)-Vie [to tell Russia he wants an alliance against Austria] this will be reported as A(Ven) stands [the GM might also report this as a misorder]. However if Austria orders F(Tri)-Alb and Italy A(Ven) s AUSTRIAN F(Tri) then the latter will simply be reported as a misorder. 4. Your GM might not allow frivolous game end proposals. For example a two way draw proposed in Spring 1901. 5. Players may submit humorous press as long as this cannot be construed as negotiation. 6. Deadlines will normally be weekly but as soon as the GM gets a full set of orders he may adjudicate.
