As you know, I'm your GM & by being so, I'm neutral. I'm able to answer any questions as long as they don't upset my status in the game.
My son & I have five tropical freshwater fish tanks & therefore I have called the game 'Goldfish' as this is a common name for a fish. Goldfish, Carassius auratus as their scientific name, is in the Cyprinids family. I'm sure you've heard the common name as they've been in captivity for hundreds of years. The colour we know them by is line-bred, as their natural colour is dull brown. Their original natural habitat is in China & maximum size 10". You will able to see, in future maps, a picture of the fish.
The deadline, Spring 1901 deadline; 7pm BST, 29th August 2003. Given the fact this game doesn't have 'real' negotiation, I'll adjudicate unless you submit 'Provisional Orders'. As I'm sure you'll gather, Gunboat can be a fast game.
This game will have 'no press' unless it comes from me.
Regarding me, I live in Chelmsford, Essex, England. Even though I live in England I am a Scot. I am 39 years old (sadly almost 40) & have been happily divorced for many years. I have an 12-year-old son, called Graeme, who lives with his Mum in Faversham, Kent. Outside Diplomacy & aquariums, I enjoy football & go to Jive dances. My son & I have created our own Web Site, http://mysite.freeserve.com/alb_gsb which has a lot of Diplomacy articles including the stats on Gunboat Openings.
Rules
1. All players' identities will be kept secret until the end of the game.
2. There is to be no diplomacy between players. If you accidentally find out who a fellow player is then you must not talk to him about the game. If you do you will be ejected.
3. Avoid obvious deliberate misorders. For example in Spring 1901 if Italy orders A(Ven) s RUSSIAN A(Gal)-Vie [to tell Russia he wants an alliance against Austria] this will be reported as A(Ven) stands [the GM might also report this as a misorder]. However if Austria orders F(Tri)-Alb and Italy A(Ven) s AUSTRIAN F(Tri) then the latter will simply be reported as a misorder.
4. Your GM might not allow frivolous game end proposals. For example a two way draw proposed in Spring 1901.
5. No press bar me.
6. Deadlines will normally be weekly but as soon as the GM gets a full set of orders he may adjudicate.
