As you know, I'm your GM & by being so, I'm neutral. I'm able to answer any questions as long as they don't upset my status in the game.
My son & I have five tropical freshwater fish tanks & therefore I have called the game 'Oscar' as this is a common name for a fish. Oscar, Astronotus ocellatus as their scientific name, is in the Chilid family. They are carnivorous & if kept in a tank must be with others of their size. It's worthless putting them in a tank that is purpose to look a delight as they will dig all the time. Their nature habitat is in Sth America & often seen in Rio Negra, Rio Paraguay & Rio Parana with the size being upto 10". You will able to see, in future maps, a picture of the fish.
The deadline, Spring 1901 deadline; 7pm BST, 18th September 2003. Given the fact this game doesn't have 'real' negotiation, I'll adjudicate unless you submit 'Provisional Orders'. As I'm sure you'll gather, Gunboat can be a fast game. This game will have 'no press' unless it comes from me.
Before going on, all bar one of you had France listed as first choice. What check of wanting to win! :-)
Regarding me, I live in Chelmsford, Essex, England. Even though I live in England I am a Scot. I am 40 years old & have been happily divorced for many years. I have an 13-year-old son, called Graeme, who lives with his Mum in Faversham, Kent. Outside Diplomacy & aquariums, I enjoy football & go to Jive dances. My son & I have created our own Web Site, http://mysite.freeserve.com/alb_gsb which has a lot of Diplomacy articles including the stats on Gunboat Openings.
Rules
1. All players' identities will be kept secret until the end of the game.
2. There is to be no diplomacy between players. If you accidentally find out who a fellow player is then you must not talk to him about the game. If you do you will be ejected.
3. Avoid obvious deliberate misorders. For example in Spring 1901 if Italy orders A(Ven) s RUSSIAN A(Gal)-Vie [to tell Russia he wants an alliance against Austria] this will be reported as A(Ven) stands [the GM might also report this as a misorder]. However if Austria orders F(Tri)-Alb and Italy A(Ven) s AUSTRIAN F(Tri) then the latter will simply be reported as a misorder.
4. Your GM might not allow frivolous game end proposals. For example a two way draw proposed in Spring 1901.
5. No press bar me.
6. Deadlines will normally be weekly but as soon as the GM gets a full set of orders he may adjudicate.
