SNAKE HEAD - Spring 1902 GM Ally Bain
Russia not only managed to bounce against Turkey & Austria put simply thought their northern fleet was somewhere else.
As for bounces, Italy caused a bounce with France which in turn caused another bounce with Germany.
England was the only country without bounces.

PRESS ALB: Again, sorry for the delay Vie Gov't: Well boys, happy Cambria day to you all. Just in case none of you are enlightened about what day it is, this is when all Tankies get a day off and have partys, take the piss out of the cavalry etc -- http://www.1rtr.net/history.html Cambria day 20th November 1916. "A" Company, the forerunner of the First Royal Tank Regiment moved to France in October 1916. They were just too late to take part in the first tank action on September 15 on the Somme. Despite bad terrain, mechanical problems and the dispersion of tanks into small groups, the arrival of a handful of these monsters on enemy positions struck terror into the Germans. Although no great success was achieved in this particular action, since so few tanks reached the front line, it did prove that the Allies had a valuable new weapon of great tactical potential. In July 1917, after many months of heavy fighting, further reorganisation of the Heavy Branch was given when it was established as a separate Tank Corps. Colonel Elles, later to be Sir Hugh Elles, was appointed its commander together with a staff to organise the training and "A" Company was renamed "A" Battalion. By early 1917, it was planned to launch a major offensive incorporating the entire Tank Corps of 3 Brigades (378 Tanks) backed by six infantry divisions and 1000 guns. The attack was original in concept because the Tank Corps was allowed to select the most suitable terrain over which to advance; though not the strategy of the battle. The aim of the offensive was to smash through the Hindenburg Line, a very strongly defended trench system backed by 2 canals. Nine miles behind that line lay the small town of Cambrai. At first light on November 20 1917, Brigadier General Elles led the first line of tanks forward from his own tank "Hilda". From his tank he flew the very first flag of the Tank Corps. Bands of brown red and green silk colours which came to symbolise the passage of the tanks "from mud, through blood to the green fields beyond". All 9 battalions of the Tank Corps took part in the attack and were organised in three waves. The first wave of tanks carried fascines which were dropped into the trenches trenches to allow the tanks to cross. They had the job of breaking through the wires and trenches of the Hindenburg Line. The second wave was to secure the crossing of the St Quentin canal. The third wave was to exploit the breakthrough and cause havoc in the enemy's rearo allow the tanks to cross. They had the job of breaking through the wires and trenches of the Hindenburg Line. The second wave was to secure the crossing of the St Quentin. By midday, the tanks had broken through the defences to a depth of 4 miles and by early afternoon, 2 of "A" battalion's company commanders had even reconnoitered as far as Cambrai itself. By the 22nd more ground had been won than in any comparable period of the war. But this brilliant demonstration of the value of tanks was marred by the abject, pathetic failure of the Staff, Infantry and Cavalry to seize the opportunity to exploit the breach and a German counter offensive more than restored the original lines! Which brings us onto the THE GOSPEL OF THE ROYAL ARMOURED CORPS - 1.In the beginning there was the mud, the trenches and the barbed wire, and the greatest scourge of all—the machine gun. This made the cavalry sore afraid and they prayed for redemption, but redemption was not at hand. 2. The dashing people retired from the field of battle and prayed to their strange gods – sabre, lance and carbine and made obeisance to their great god of victory, HORSE, praying for deliverance. 3. Their cries not fall on deaf ears, for from the west came a chosen people worshippers of new and potent gods, Firepower, Armour and Mobility, the minor deities of the truly great god TANK. 4. The chosen people a kindly and Christian people, heeded the cries of the cavalry and smote their enemies and drove them from the battlefield. 5. Many were the prayers given onto the chosen people and their god of gods TANK who had brought deliverance onto the cavalry, the dashing people. 6. But the dashing people turned from the God TANK and their gratitude was soon forgot and they turned to their former gods, sabre, lance, carbine and HORSE. 7. But the chosen people sent out missionaries to spread the word of the God TANK, and eventually some of the dashing people heeded the word and followed the path of righteousness, and prayed to TANK and were converted. 8. First among the dashing people were the tribe of the Cherry Trousers and they were greatly honoured for seeing the light and joining the chosen people. 9. But there were amongst the dashing people the unbelievers who refused to be converted. 10. But in the East there arose a great pestilence, Adolf, son of shitelgrober, and this made the Pharisees tremble and some of the unbelievers were converted. 11. The pestilence spread throughout many lands and great was the cry unto the mighty God TANK and the chosen people and some of the dashing people, smote him and drove him from the battlefield. 12. And the remainder of the dashing people were converted and made homage to firepower armour, mobility and TANK. 13. And the chosen people rejoiced and welcomed the dashing people into the fold and they all became as one and there is only one God and his name is TANK. 14. The chosen people now number many but the greatest amongst them are the ones who spread the word and converted the unbelievers and they are called TANKIES.
