PRESS From Pieter to All Greetings Allies, Foes, and the rest... I wish to react on Andrea's mail concerning the South African players. When we first signed up, we were rejected from the site because it looked suspiciously like one person signing up with different names (the e-mail adresses). So I mailed the administrator, and in the end Tom Tweedy himself mailed me back with the explanation. So I told him the story, that we are in fact 4 seperate people, eager to play and thinking it would be interesting to play in the same game. I told him that if he felt that that would be improper, we would accept that, but he replied that we are welcome to play. I want to assure you all that we did not enter the game with any form of set strategy, and that more than 90% of our diplomacy takes place through e-mail, we seldom discuss Mancini when we do see each other. All four of us are honourable players who respect the game and the people we play against, and there would be no gain in throwing the game, nobody wants to win that way. The reason I am telling you this is because I do not want this game to end up in a "South African VS the Rest" Alliance. That would be really lame, and against everything we hoped for when we started playing. But if you all suspect us from teaming up in an unfair way against you, and you all ally against us, you will force the game in that direction. So I plead with all 6 of you, when you diplome, when you make your plans, try to stick to the countries on the board, don't plan your strategies around the fact that four of us know each other and attend the same Universtiy. Thank you for a great game so far. Now let's keep it clean, fair, and most importantly, in good spirits. Pieter Muller PS: Remember: The Austrians are your friends... NEXT DEAD LINE Autumn 1902 is: *** 2 PM GMT Thursday JULY 1 2004. ***
