Rome, August 1st 1901, Emperor Caligulini speaks before an impromptu meeting

of the Senate as he attempts to cross the Bay of Naples on a white horses

upon a bridge of Italian destroyers strung together.

"The pop of the whistle has ascended and the lights last dove is come in the

world of secret whispering laughter that pounds in the ears of a thousand

worlds the decay of ju-ju fruit and light patterns of silk earings that flap

in the breeze like trees of never nights return to find the absence of

dancing and tears.

"Firing the shouts of little boys who squeel and whirl and jump on the backs

of broken old bodies that whimper at the sight of Italias lost loves and

wait for the candy man to deliver the rose letters of arabic tounges and

twists and turns of opera voices that rise in Germanic tones and speak of

Wagner as the epicuran deliverance of fish in bowls with bicylces that twirl
