FRANCE (Stephen Custance-Baker) Thanks for all your hard work, Andy. You are right that I played a slow game over the last few years, but I have never had a solo before and I didn’t want to risk it by going too fast. Thank you to all my opponents, I hope we meet again. My early game was simplified by the tacit agreement with Italy to move away from each other. When he and Austria got tangled, that secured my southern frontier. Then England, Germany and Russia started arguing about Scandinavia, which made my northern frontier safe and allowed me to invade England. By the time that the others (particularly Austria) had recognised what was happening and set up a defence in the centre, I had already out-flanked Germany and Russia in the north and started my slow squeeze operation. Altogether a very satisfactory game :-)) Stephen Custance-Baker

GERMANY (Steve Adler) Andy A big vote of thanks for being such an excellent GM. Germany went east instead of west as England crumbled and the whole of Europe suffered the consequences. The Kaiser has relinquished his palaces for a humble farm in Minneappolis. Thanks to all fur such a fun game and a happy new year to all. Steve

TURKEY (Greg Pierce) Well, I'd like to first of thank Andy for another great game! So, Turkey... I'm pretty pleased with a respectable finish (although, allowing a solo is never all that great! ; ), as Turkey can be an unruly beast when it comes to Gunboat. I started this game with intensions set on eliminating Russia and teaming with Austria from the start... Things started well, but the early NMR from Austria nearly derailed the whole thing... Fortunately we were able to recover, but Russia and Italy's persistence in our demise and following uncooperativeness in the end game led to France's ultimate victory... Although, I'm quite proud that it took France six game years to finally claim those last two SCs! It's to bad we couldn't have eliminated Italy and Russia a bit sooner, then we might have been able to hold the line or even cross it! : ) Thanks again to Andy for a great game and thanks to all you players... Later, Greg.

GM (Andy Scott) First off thanks to everyone for a good game and my apologies for the length of time it has taken me to get the EGS for this game up on the web! To be honest Pluto was one of those games as a GM that virtually ran itself, I wish there were more like it :-)) In terms of the actual play of the game I think our winner provided the nice succinct facts of his victory but it still must be said that whilst his opponents were a tad slow to react to the threat he posed, France took nothing for granted and moved slowly and surely securing his well deserved win. Thanks again to the players, A GM can only do a good job with their help! AndyReturn to Top
