WAR AGAINST RUSSIA ENDS

Turkish and Austrian forces overtook and routed the remnant of the Russian 3rd Army as it approached the Dnister River in a desperate attempt to escape into Rumania. The battered Russian force had been in retreat since its defeat at the Battle of Moscow.

The Russian 3rd Army represented the last organized resistance of the Tsar's Imperial Government. Reports from the battlefield are unclear and the fate of the Russian Royal Family is unknown.

LIVONIA DECLARES INDEPENDENCE!

Upon the news of the collapse of the Imperial Government of Russia, a general assembly of prominent Livonian citizens hastily convened in the city of Riga to form an independent government. The first act of the newly formed government was to declare Livonia an independent state. The Livonian government has requested diplomatic recognition by the Great Powers and has further requested that foreign governments respect Livonian territorial integrity.

GREAT BRITAIN RECOGNIZES LIVONIAN INDEPENDENCE

Her Majesty's Government has formally recognized the newly independent state of Livonia. Captain Francis Cromie has been assigned British Ambassador to Livonia and will depart for Riga shortly. When asked to comment the Ambassador stated that the United Kingdom has every intention to respect the territorial integrity of the newly formed state and that he has high hopes that the other Great Powers will follow suit.
