The Sultan today announced that Turkey would be joining the pact of steel with Austria, Germany and England against what he described as the insidious spread of decadent, Western, superficially pleasing cuisine. "For too long the date and camel's milk have bowed to colonial oppressors. What the hell is parmigiana anyway?" he told a cheering crowd in Ankara. "With our glorious allies, the world will at last be safe for Yorkshire pudding and sauerkraut."

The Sultan was later questioned at a press conference by Mohamed Moore, author of the book "Stupid Middle Eastern Men", who asked, "Isn't this yet another pathetic, lying attempt to justify a war of aggression against peaceful neighbours so as to enrich the military/industrial complex that controls you, seize cheap essential supplies of lasagna, and indulge your base, unspeakable lusts with young virgins in acts of indescribable depravity?"

The Sultan looked puzzled for several moments and asked, "Where the hell am I going to find a virgin in Western Europe? I can't say I saw any on that Con Tiki tour last year"
