Hi chaps, and welcome to your new gamestart . As you will doubtless have guessed, the game is named after the famous Bob Dylan song, “Masters of War”.
Country allocations were reasonable – nobody got anything worse than their third choice.
Most of you are experienced chaps but, if you have not already done so, I would strongly recommend you to familiarise yourselves with the advice and guidance on the Diplomacy 2000 website. It contains lots of very helpful stuff, even for knowledgeable players.
Please send me a provisional set of orders for Spring 1901 as soon as possible - this confirms to me that you want to play. Orders can be changed at any time up until the deadline. I will normally confirm back receipt of orders to you so that you know they have arrived. Shout if you don't get this in a day or two.
One additional interesting feature of this game will be that it is going to be run in conjunction with a Bourse. In other words other players on the Diplomacy 2000 site are going to be speculating on your prospects! You can’t play in the Bourse yourselves, but you may be interested in how it works – see the front page of the site for links. The Bourse game will be called “Conventional Wisdom”.
The deadline for Spring 1901 orders will be Friday 10th September at 6.00 PM GMT. Thereafter we will continue running to 2 week deadlines. Although I will accept late orders up until the time when I adjudicate, you would be very unwise to rely on this as I will be dealing with the game on Friday nights on most occasions.
You may commit any sort of horrible act of deceit upon each other but DECEPTION OF THE GM is totally forbidden.
Have a good game and above all, enjoy yourselves. All the best Brian Frew
